Lorsque Microsoft a annoncé la publication de la version preview de Windows 8.1, une version de test de la prochaine mise à jour de son système Windows 8, la société a précisé que les utilisateurs qui installeront la version test (Preview) ne pourront plus mettre à jour le système vers la version finale de Windows 8.1: Windows 8.1 RTM.
Cela signifie que les utilisateurs qui ont installé Windows 8.1 Preview devront réinstaller Windows 8 sur le PC à nouveau avant de pouvoir installer la version finale de Windows 8.1 sur le système. Ainsi en plus de perdre l’accès à l’ensemble de leurs personnalisations et applications qu’ils ont installé entre temps, ils vont aussi perdre leurs données et beaucoup de temps de travail.
Si vous avez installé Windows 8.1 Preview sur l’un de vos ordinateurs, avant de revenir à Windows 8, ce qui suit pourra peut-être vous intéresser.
Winsioutilis est une collection de programmes gratuits pour Windows qui manipule les fichiers de configuration dans l’image d’installation de Windows pour déverrouiller les restrictions que Microsoft a mis en place.
L’un des programmes de Winsioutilis s’appelle cversion.ini Removal Utility et c’est un utilitaire de suppression. Il supprime le fichier cversion.ini se trouvant dans l’image ISO du CD d’installation du système d’exploitation Windows. Ce fichier vérifie si le système d’exploitation Windows que vous voulez mettre à niveau est autorisé à poursuivre l’installation. Si la version du système ne correspond pas, la mise à jour ne commencera pas et vous ne pourrez rien y faire sauf si vous modifiez le fichier manuellement ou que vous la retirez complètement de l’image ISO.
C’est très utile pour la mise à niveau à partir des versions tests de Windows vers la version finale tout en conservant vos données, paramètres et programmes. Dans notre cas de Windows 8.1 Preview vers Windows 8.1 RTM. Cet outil fonctionne de la même façon que l’utilitaire de suppression ei.cfg. Donc vous n’aurez pas besoin de décompresser et reconstruire l’ISO (l’image du CD d’installation ou de mise à niveau de Windows), et le processus peut être inversé.
Pour utiliser l’application, exécutez-le une fois que vous l’avez téléchargé sur votre système et décompressé. Vous devez ensuite sélectionner une image disque (.iso) de Windows que vous avez stocké sur l’ordinateur. Donc sélectionnez l’image .iso de la version finale de Windows 8.1. Le processus ne va prendre que quelques secondes.
Si tout se passe comme prévu, un message sera affiché à la fin du processus pour indiquer que le fichier cversion.ini a été supprimé. Vous pouvez ensuite aller de l’avant et graver l’image ISO sur un disque, et installer la version finale de Windows 8.1 sur votre système d’exploitation Windows 8.1 Preview existant sans rencontrer de problèmes quelconques.
L’avantage est que vous allez conserver vos fichiers, programmes et applications que vous avez installées sur le système.

Moi ça ne fonctionne pas … Après avoir supprimer le fichier , je lance l’installation et l’option « conserver vos fichiers personnels et vos applications » n’apparait pas .
J’ai essayé en bootant au démarrage mais la mise à niveau simple ne fonctionne que lorsque Windows 8 est en marche. Donc si vous avez une solution pour mon problème je suis preneur … Merci quand même pour le tuto

Petite précision toutefois, au lancement de l’iso, il faut taper une clé Windows 8.1 RTM valide (trouvable sur Google 1ère page de résultats), et remettre la clé de Windows 8 initiale pour l’activation.
